Many school email servers block zip file attachments when the email is sent or received to a school email address.  Zipped files are block for security purposes.  Viruses sent via the school email system can cause problems on the school email server.

Unfortunately entry/meet results (Commlink)/and meet backup files are zipped for file protection during transmission.  There are two ways around this problem.

  1. Send the file in it's native format.  i.e. *.hy3, *.hyv, etc.  To do this one must unzip the file before attaching the file to an email.
  2. The easier method is to use a web based email account your school computer system does not block.  Note: web based email account with hotmail, yahoo, sbcglobal.net, etc. are blocked by most school networks.  As of today (July, 2007) the TISCA email server is not blocked by the majority of school networks.

This means you can now send and receive your meet entry files which are zipped to and from your school computer.   You won't have to use an off campus computer to access these file.  This should be a tremendous help to coaches that host meets.

If you wish to have a TISCA email account for this purpose please send an email to Ron Raper, at tisca@tisca.org .  Please limit this to one email account per school or team.  Complete instruction regarding access, login and password will be sent back to you as soon as I can get your account setup.

Thank you,
